Zedlayby is a service operated by BIT Zambia. When this policy says "we", "us" or "our", it means BIT Zambia. When it says "you", it means anyone who uses Zedlayby — whether as a shopper or a retailer.

2. Information we collect

When you register

We collect your name, phone number, location (province and town), and the type of account you create (shopper or retailer). For retailer accounts, we also collect your business name, TPIN, and PACRA number so we can verify your business is registered.

When you use the platform

We record the layby applications you submit, payments that are recorded against your account, and messages you exchange with retailers through the platform. We also keep a log of actions taken on your account for security purposes.

Automatically collected information

Like most websites, we collect basic technical information when you visit — such as your browser type and the pages you view. This helps us keep the service running smoothly. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account
  • To process layby applications between shoppers and retailers
  • To generate and store layby agreements
  • To send you important updates about your applications or account
  • To verify that retailers meet the requirements to list on the platform
  • To improve how the platform works

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use it for advertising.

4. Who can see your information

Retailers you apply to can see the information on your application — your name and contact details — so they can review and respond to your request. They cannot see your full account history or other applications.

Shoppers can see a retailer's public profile, including their business name, town, and reviews left by other verified customers.

Our team can access account information when needed to provide support or to investigate a complaint.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we may retain certain records — such as completed agreements — for up to seven years, as may be required for legal or financial record-keeping.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct anything that is wrong, and to ask us to delete your account. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@zedlayby.com.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Passwords are stored securely and are never visible to our team. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections. However, no system is completely immune to risk — please use a strong password and keep your login details private.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know via the platform. The date at the top of this page always reflects when it was last updated.
